15 November 2022

We went down to breakfast about 9 and I ordered two fried eggs on English muffins and I ate the eggs and part of one muffin. And I got cranberry juice. Lesley found out that the refrigerator had been off when the lights were out, so she threw out the chicken strips.

We finished packing me. I knew I would have to have the battery in my backpack so I attempted to put everything else heavy (camera, laptop) into the suitcase and just had my passport and phone and the Kindle and some empty water bottles. We got to the airport in good time and after we found our way to the First-Class-Sky Miles line, we started to check in. They made me take the laptop out of the suitcase - I think I could have argued them into letting it stay there but I know Lesley didn't want me to try so I didn't. We got a wheelchair right away and Mike packed the scooter up flat this time.

Mike and Lesley had checked out of the hotel and already had their suitcases in their car so after they got me checked in, they took the shuttle back to the hotel and drove home.

The wheelchair guy took me through security (which wasn't very crowded) and to the gate - 2 hours early. I forgot to get my water bottles filled. I sat and read another book on my kindle, and about 10 minutes before they were going to start boarding, I got back into the wheelchair. Two people came and asked me who I was and checked me in and then they took me down to the plane. This was Republic Airlines for Delta. The flight crew said they were from Columbus OH. They offered me drinks and snacks and I drank a little bottle of water and put another one in my pocket, and ate some ginger cookies and some of those waffle cookies.

The flight to Baltimore was short.

But when we got to Baltimore, everyone was off the plane and the flight crew was anxious to leave and the cleaning crew had gotten on and were cleaning up before a wheelchair came. A little woman came with the wheelchair - she moved me up the jetway to the terminal and then she told a black man who was sitting there to take me the rest of the way to baggage claim.

Bob was there at baggage claim with my red bag, but of course he did not recognize the new rollator bag so my wheelchair guy got that and then he went and got the scooter. Bob put the scooter together with the battery and I got on the scooter. The wheelchair guy said we could take the wheelchair and just put the luggage on it and take it to the garage. So we did that. Bob had to back the car out so he could open the door to get the suitcase and rollator bag into the back seat.

Bob drove home. It got dark fast and was raining. For some reason, Bob did not take the well lighted roads so that he could see better. No he took the roads with less traffic lights. We were following cars ahead of us as we really couldn't see the road and at some point the cars we were following stopped going to the same place we were going and we had to drive without a lead car. We got home about 5:30 and the cats were very annoyed that their dinner was late. I managed to eat some dinner and then went upstairs and to sleep. But my right leg was painful and I got up about 3 and finished the story I had on the Kindle because I couldn't sleep.

When I got back, I had no energy, and I tried to come to grips with the idea that I would have to stop traveling. I am much better now, although I know I can't manage an airport by myself.
